Beaufort Hilton Head Island Boiled
Shrimp Recipe Ingredients: |
|
Shrimp |
(de-headed, but leave the shell on) about 1-2 lbs. per person. |
Seasoning |
salt and pepper or Lemon Pepper or crab season or Old Bay Seasoning. |
| Boil water in a large pot, season
if desired with salt, lemon pepper or crab season. Add shrimp and
cook until shrimp turns pink and begins to float. This does not take long,
usually less than 1 minute. DO NOT OVERCOOK. Drain water and you've got
the best tasting shrimp around. Add some cocktail sauce to the plates for dip, an extra bowl for the shrimp shells, lots of paper towels and everyone can shell their shrimp as they eat. Great for parties as it is very easy and quick to cook. (overcooked shrimp will be either very tough or very mushy). |
| Shrimp can also
be cooked in the microwave for small servings. Place 5 or 6 shrimp on a paper towel and cover with
another paper towel, and cook for 10 - 15 seconds. Time varies with power
of microwave. Shrimp should not be overcooked. When they are translucent
in color or white they are done. The microwave is excellent for shrimp
and clams. You can add some butter on top of each shrimp before cooking.
Just make sure to cover shrimp or you will end up with quite a messy microwave
oven afterwards. When shrimp starts poping more than a couple of times, it's begining to overcook. |
