Waterfront Park

The Beaufort Waterfront Park, (Henry C. Chambers Park), built in 1979, is one of Beaufort's most popular and relaxing parks. Here you can find swinging benches that allow you
to see all the bay splendors and sit while doing so... with trees overhead and a cool river breeze, it is really the way for utmost relaxation. The park has a marina, so you get to see all kinds of boats going by. The Waterfront Park is beautifully landscaped with colorful vegetation and small ornamental trees. Part of the Waterfront Park contains a large stage where festivals are held, and a green grassy area for the crowds to sit. Often you can see young and old, playing a Frisbee game on the grass. There are plenty of in/outdoor restaurants and it is quite popular in the evenings. At the sea wall, one can fish or shrimp.
Definitely a nice spot to check out.
When at the Waterfront park, do not go down to the boats. Many boat owners live on their boats... it's their home.

Port Royal Boardwalk & Observation Tower

Port Royal Sands Tower, 1999 by R.J. Sorensen

This boardwalk spans over the banks of the Beaufort River and Battery Creek waterway. The walkway leads to a tower that provides a bird's eye view of the surrounding marshes, river and Ecosystem. The "Sands", a river beach, is a popular gathering point for the locals and a fantastic spot to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July.
