The filming of Forrest Gump made quite an impression on Beaufort. After the film was made, the Beaufort Shrimp Festival was created. During this festival, one may sample boiled shrimp, baked shrimp, fried shrimp, marinated shrimp, shrimp on a stick, seasoned shrimp, buttered shrimp, barbecue shrimp, shrimp gumbo, shrimp creo, did I say boiled shrimp. Well, maybe not all of them, but some. A lot of people around here were employed in the film. Bubba's mother was a local resident, The Halleluiah Singers (local choir) sang in some of the church scenes, and Kenny Varner was the only live keyboard player. Many others were used as extras, and some assisted with regular crew duties. |

This
was the scene in the movie where Forrest sees the Lt. on the dock for the fist time. It
was shot on the Coosaw River, at the landing just before the Coosaw bridge. These pictures
were shot from the dock across the bridge. These pictures were not affiliated in any way
with the movie Forrest Gump. |
