Beaufort Medical System

Beaufort County has an excellent medical system. With 3 major hospitals, nearly a dozen clinics, and many private practices, the health of Beaufort residents and visitors are in good hands. Beaufort has a highly respected EMS system that provides Advance Life Support Paramedic crews, strategically stationed throughout the county for rapid response to any area with an emergency. Fire and Rescue personnel, also with EMT's and Paramedics, are stationed as to provide a rapid response, and assist the medical teams on all emergencies. Beaufort County has a very state of the art emergency preparedness unit, disaster units, and control / dispatch systems.

Beaufort Memorial is 170 bed ultra modern facility. It provides health care to the people in Northern Beaufort County. It has a 24 hour fully equipped and staffed emergency ward, with communication to all EMS and Fire crews. Beaufort Memorial has a water dock for assisting water emergencies, along with a helipad.

Beaufort Naval Hospital is a 350 bed facility designed for the treatment
of Military personnel, both active and retired for all of Beaufort County. It has a fully equipped 24 hour emergency ward with physician on duty,
and in communication with all emergency crews in the county. It does offer assistance in the treatment of civilians in the event of a disaster.

Hilton Head Hospital is a private facility located on Hilton Head Island and treats the population in Southern part of Beaufort County. It is a fully equipped hospital, with a fully staffed 24 hour Emergency ward, with physician on duty, and in full contact with any emergency crew within Beaufort county.

The Beaufort County EMS system consists of highly trained professional Paramedics and EMT's, and equipped with ultra modern medical units. Fully equipped crews are stationed throughout the county, thus being able to have a very rapid response to any emergency. The units also respond to fire emergencies. All units are in complete contact with the emergency departments of all the Beaufort hospitals, as well as with fire department crews. All stations are manned 24 hours a day.

Beaufort Fire Departments are all strategically placed in various sub stations as to provide extremely rapid response to any part of the county. The fire department has fully equipped First Response units and assist with all medical emergencies. The Beaufort and Hilton Head Fire Departments have water rescue units, and are available 24 hour a day. The equipment is the most modern units available, and the crews are highly educated in the fire, rescue, and medical fields.

Beaufort County has a state of the art dispatch operation. From one location, dispatch control can coordinate emergency situations effectively, with police, Fire, EMS and disaster units. Beaufort County also has a Hurricane Operation Center and can effectively communicate with all emergency crews in the event of a Hurricane.
